On January 21, 2016, Teton Guitars introduced rarefied guitar tops on all new 2016 models at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. Rarefication is a very natural process that doesn’t overheat or discolor the wood. Pre-manufacture solid wood planks are placed in a chemical-free, vacuum-sealed environment that does not exceed 38 ˚C (100 ˚F).  Impurities are removed from the wood which makes guitar soundboards much stronger and improves the tone similar to the natural aging process of tone woods.
